Nahoon reef  (East Londen)

Nahoon reef is a big area and includes dive sites such as

Can be a shore entry but site is quite strenious from shore and divers must be a bit experienced and fit.
Best time to dive Nahoon reef is when the sea is flat and calm after low tide.
The long-shore current is the problem and can be tricky
Enter at surfers walk(a strip of cement that goes into the surf area) , which is to the right of the parking area to a big rock that stands by itself at the parking area.
Go through the waves and go straight out(basicly you will be below the surfers in the water).Turn to the  left and swim untill you basicly in line with Mermaids pool again.
Turn left again and you will be back at Mermaids pool
To enter Mermaids pool can be difficult at times and you need to hold onto the rocks at the bottom while the surge tries to pull you back to sea.
When it releases, you kick forward untill it pulls you again. With patience you enter Mermaids pool
Do not try to exit on Nahoon beach side as there can be strong rips..alternatvely you can enter and exit at Merarmaids...diving off a boat is much easier.

The Border Undersea Club launch from East Llondon,Orient beach as some areas are very deep

Nahoon reef have lots of crevices and swimthroughs and is a very beautiful area with lots of reef and sand areas full of fishlife like blue striped rays, leervis, strepies, zebra, blacktail and many more big species.
Sevaral corals:sea fans, gergonians, sponges nudibranches and basketstars etc can also be seen on this site.Juvenile raggies are often spotted here

How to get there:
Epsom Road in Nahoon and at James Pearce park the road turns right.which  you follow all the way to Nahoon beach. You will go over plenty of speedbumps until  the road forks left or straight.Leftgoes to Nahoon beach and straight goes to Nahoon reef. When you get to Nahoon reef there will be a big parking area facing the sea and on the left of the parking area where you will see a small beach(sand) area  with Mermaids pool in front of you
