Short Description:

The head has a long,narrow,pointed beak.Body characteristically marked with a "criss-cross" figure-of-eight pattern on the sides: a buff patch in the lower half of the body between the eye and the dorsal fin,and a pale grey patch on the upper flankbehind the dorsal fin.Dark stripe from the flipper to lower jaw

Size: 2.5m
Behaviour: Short-beaked Common Dolphins can live in aggregations of hundreds or even thousands of dolphins. They sometimes associate with other dolphin species, such as pilot whales. They have also been observed bow riding on baleen whales, and they also bow ride on boats. It is a fast swimmer, and breaching behavior and aerial acrobatics are common with this species
Distribution: Occurring throughout warm-temperate and tropical oceans, with the possible exception of the Indian Ocean
Diet: Has a varied diet consisting of many species of fish and squid that live less than 200 metres
Habitat: Pelagic
